An anomaly in the male-dominated restaurant business who is outspoken about the bros who make up much of the industry, Agg is something of a celebrity in Canada, where she owns multiple successful restaurants. In her memoir, she opens up about a generally happy childhood, rebellious teenage years spent stealing liquor from her parents, and a job as a bartender that led to her opening the Black Hoof, a Toronto restaurant that specializes in charcuterie. She is at her best when describing her crack: opening up a new restaurant or bar (even though it often means dealing with sexist contractors who assume her husband is in charge). Candid and honest, even when she's writing about her sex life, Agg's in-your-face style (which can come across as self-righteous) may not be for everyone. Regardless of what readers think of her, though, her feminist if perhaps not intersectional voice is much needed in the restaurant world, where sexism and harassment run rampant.--Sexton, Kathy Copyright 2017 Booklist
